Leadership Development

Leadership involves helping individuals, organisations (and communities) face problematic realities and mobilising them to make potentially difficult change.

Leadership, therefore, involves asking hard questions such as:

  • What do we stand for and are there any gaps between our values and our current behaviour?
  • What opportunities does the future hold and is there a gap between these opportunities and our capacity to capitalise on them?
  • What might we need to give up or sacrifice in order to make the progress we say we want?

Leadership development must prepare people for the demands of change; to ask the hard questions but in an effective and sustaining manner; and to be able to hold steady while acting with compassion during challenging times.

Linked to the strategic goals of a business or community, leadership development must prepare people for the realities of their environment and to face both the possibilities and limitations of their own capacity; to connect leaders to themselves and each other, so that the exercise of leadership becomes a shared endeavour. All of our programs are built around these principles.

Vantage Point utilises a highly experiential approach: we give participants the opportunity to challenge existing attitudes and beliefs, and to experiment with new behaviour. Our model, which carries through into the workplace, is systemic and integrative. It directly addresses participants’ abilities to develop required competencies, skills and behaviours and also helps managers navigate the complexities and dynamics of organisational life.

Does your organisation have the leadership capabilities required to meet existing and future challenges? Please contact us to discuss, or read on for examples of programs we have run elsewhere.

Leadership Scenario 1: Leadership
How do we develop leadership and ensure it is exercised in such a way that change is both acceptable and possible, and that leaders have a positive impact? How do we move from being technical managers to being leaders who move our business forward?

Leadership Scenario 2: Citizenship
How do we engage and enliven staff at all levels to contribute and share responsibility for the future of business and organisation?

Leadership Scenario 3: Career and Succession Planning
How can we ensure that our new and younger recruits both contribute fully and develop themselves and their careers, and how do we build a cadre of future managers and leaders that draws on and develops the best talent?

Leadership Scenario 4: Leadership Education
How do we develop the skills and capacities of educators, trainers and consultants to ensure leading edge learning and development for managers and leaders?
